In the last few years, I have become a "lighthouse aficionado." Always enamored with "things nautical," I decided to make a miniature lighthouse.  This one is a kit with three floors inside.  Instead of just creating a keeper's quarters, I thought of a story to go with my lighthouse.

Story of the Light

The lighthouse was about to be decommissioned.  The lighthouse keeper couldn't stand the thought of moving away from his lighthouse, so he bought it.  He converted it into "The Beacon Lighthouse Memorabilia Shop and Gallery Extraordinaire."  The bottom floor is the memorabilia shop and  is filled with "everything you could imagine that has a lighthouse on it."  The keeper lives on the middle level; he has converted the top into a gallery of lighthouse art.

The Lighthouse Christmas Tree

At Christmas time, I decided to make a Christmas tree for the lighthouse.  For the ornaments, I reduced photos of real lighthouse ornaments pictured in the Lighthouse Depot catalogue (a wonderful catalogue if you like lighthouses) on a color copier and cut them out.  I put them on the tree and added other nautical elements (small buttons I found in the shape of seashells and ship's wheels).  The lighthouse keeper was pleased with my efforts!
